Select the Question Type

Introduction

Whenever you are creating a new Product Finder, you can define the type of corresponding questions. The type of question depends on your purpose.

To choose the right question type, you need to understand how the question (asked directly or via a filter) can be answered:

      • There are several possible answers/options, and you want the customer to select one of them: use "Single selection" or "Dropdown" question. The main differences between these two types are that "dropdown" questions cannot be illustrated with images but you can select the additional text that will be displayed at the top of the drop-down.

      • There are several possible answers/options, and you want the customer to select some of them: use "Multiple selection" answers/options.

TYPE RESTRICTIONS

The dropdown is not available for Messenger Product Finder. If a Messenger Product Finder is created based on a dropdown with the "OR" condition, a single selection question is created. If a Messenger Product Finder is created based on a dropdown with the "AND" condition, a multiple selection question is created.

 ATTENTION

Keep in mind that you cannot apply answer-based sorting rules for multiple-choice answers (as multiple answers can be selected)

  • Slider answers/options

    • There is a range of values, and you want the customer to select one specific value: use a "Slider" answer/option

    • There is a range of values, and you want the customer to select a range of values: use a "Double slider".

  • There is a range of values, and you want the customer to select one specific value: use a "Slider" answer/option

  • There is a range of values, and you want the customer to select a range of values: use a "Double slider".

  • Lead Generation: You need the customer to fill in a data form: create a lead generation answer/option.

TYPE RESTRICTIONS

The lead generation is only available for Product Finders.

1. Multiple Choice answers/options

Multiple choice answers/options should be used if there are several options that you suggest to the customer and you are going to recommend the products subject to their answers/options.

For example, you've got products (e.g. drinks) that are more suitable for a specific time of the day. Therefore, you ask when they are most likely to use the product. There are several options:

  • in the morning

  • in the afternoon

  • in the evening

  • at night

1.2 Single Selection

If you want the customer to select one option of many, you can use the "Single selection" type

1.2 Dropdown

Another answer/option type that can be used if you want the customer to select one option of many is "Dropdown".

  • Images are not displayed for dropdowns, but they will be bound to the answer/option if you change its type to a radio button or checkbox.

  • You can choose the text that will be displayed at the top of the dropdown. In the example below, it is "Select one option"

1.3 Multiple Selection

"Multiple Selection" answers/options are good if you want the user to be able to select several answers/options. In this case, you should also set up the answer/option relation that will define how to interpret such a choice:

  • OR: The products that suit any of the answers/options will be recommended as matching

  • AND: The products that suit all of the answers/options will be recommended as matching

For example, the user has chosen options "in the morning" and "at night".

If the relation is "OR" - they can be recommended all the products that are good for either morning or night, and  If the relation is "AND" - they will be recommended only those products that are good for both morning and night.

2. Sliders

Sliders are a great option for questions/filters

that can be answer/optioned by a value or range of values. This can be the age of the customer, budget, amount of users of the products, etc.

2.1 Single Slider

With a "Single slider" the customer can specify one value within a range that you've defined. If needed you can specify a predefined value (that will be shown when the user gets to the respective question/filter).

2.2 Double Slider

With a "Double slider" the customer can specify a range of values from a range that you've defined. If needed you can specify a predefined range (that will be shown when the user gets o the respective question).

3. Lead Generation

"Lead generation" can only be used for answers to the questions flow. It cannot be applied for options of a filter. It is used to collect information about the customer. Later on, this information can be collected and processed by you.

This is an example of a lead generation answer in the Product Finder.

The "Lead generation" answers may contain multiple elements and are displayed in detail in the "Add a Lead Generation Form" article.

4. DOs and DONTs

To increase the efficiency of the Product Finder and further processing of the collected data, only questions with "lead generation" answers should be used to collect general information about the customer. The rest of the answer/option types should be used for questions aimed to recommend the customer the best product.

For example, if you have a rule that defines, that customers of a specific age range should be offered/not offered specific products, you can create a question "How old are you?" and set up an answer/option as (for example):

  • A multiple-choice answer/option with values: "under 12", "twelve to 18", "over 18"

  • A slider with a range from 8 to 100 and default answer/option "18"

  • A double slider with a range from 8 to 100 and default answer/option range from "18 to 30"

However, if this information is not used to recommend products to the client but will be used for marketing needs, create a Lead Generation answer.
